Hell in the Journalism Classroom

​This article was the only one I wrote that wasn't Arts and Entertainment related. I wrote it as an opinion piece because I had experience with a journalism class and was currently in the course. During this writing process, I learned how to write an opinionated article by using my thoughts and using them to inform the reader of the struggles of a high school writing course. To improve this piece, I would have backed up my points with the opinions of outside sources.
Kiss Concert Makes Out Well

​After hearing about many students attending this event, I thought the Kiss Concert would be a great topic for an Arts and Entertainment article. The writing process consisted of twp interviews from my fellow classmates that went to the concert, and researching about it. To improve this piece, I would have gotten feedback about the concert in previous years compared to this year's. Also, I think an adult opinion in my article could have bettered the piece.

Mixed feelings on 'Gatsby' Greatness (podcast)

After the premiere of The Great Gastby, it was the perfect oppourtunity for a good Arts and Entertainment topic. During this week, I offered to make the podcast. It was my first individual podast, so I got to learn how to use Audacity better. It worked our great because I got to incorporate some of the music from the movie into my piece. So I knew what I was writing about, I went to go see the movie. After, I got interviews from people who thought the movie was good, and people who felt like it wasn't as great as the movie. There's nothing I would have done to make this piece any better.
National Art Honor Society Induction

I had personal experience with being inducted into the National Art Honor Society, so writing an article for Arts and Entertainment worked out well. I learned more about the art programs at our school, and got to interview the head of the Art Department, Robin Peringer. To improve this piece, I would have interviewed some of the inductees, and the officers of the Art Honor Society.
Book Review-The Weird Sisters
In the journalism course I'm taking, we have an assignment where every month we have to read and review a book. My favorite one I've read throughout the course was The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown. In this book review I talked about how the relationships amongst the 3 sisters were very much like how mine are with my sisters. It was an entertaining book that I'd recommend.
Beyond the Grind

This was an Arts and Entertainment piece I wrote that was written as new journalism. My writing partner and I talked about today's "dancing" and how it has changed over time. We used scenes instead of historical narrative to portray the situations in an exciting way. During this writing process I learned a new way of writing, which is vital to a new and aspiring journalist. To better this piece, I would have used more dialouge and scenes to make it more interesting.
